Anyway, last weekend we had our Annual Prisbrey Campout up on Big John's Flat. It's up Beaver Mountain, but most people I tell about it seem to know where it is. It is always so beautiful and peaceful up there. We love it! And, there is nothing like 40 to 60 degree weather when you are used to 95 to 115 degree weather. It's just a nice little break for the day.
We actually stayed at my brother Chuck's house in Beaver and then rode up the mountain for the day. Then, a few hours in, Jess, Mason and I rode back down the mountain to get stitches for Mason. He cut his leg open pretty good. There was fat and everything hanging out. That's not something I'm too good at. ICK!! I'm still gagging when I think about it. :-( But, he was tough! I was very proud of him. After a VERY quick in and out of the Beaver ER, we headed back up the mountain and had plenty of time to play. There is NOTHING like a small town ER!! The trip was a lot of fun and we look forward to going again next year!
A few weeks ago I took a little sewing class through the ward. It a lot of fun and I learned a lot. Kathy Nelson taught us how to put in zippers, do a gather, do a no show hem, and read a pattern. We also made these cute little aprons. I can't believe how much I really enjoyed it. I am anxious to find some cute little skirt and dress patterns for Claire that I can attempt. Of course, I will probably run into a lot of problems on my own. I'll keep you posted on that!

Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare (Fantasy)

* I really liked these. They were kind of a little mix between a Twilight and a Harry Potter. If I had to rate them I would probably give them a PG.
Another Series I read by Anita Stansfield (drama)
4-The Sound of Rain
5-A Distant Thunder
6-Winds of Hope
* Um, these were okay. Obviously, if you are familiar with Anita Stansfield- this is totally her style. I am about a quarter of the way through the 4Th one in the series and I got bored. But, I did make it through three of them so they did keep me going. Hmm, rated G.
Okay, so I probably shouldn't even put these on here, but whatever! It's definitely rated R. I'm not recommending it because of that but obviously I like the story because I can't stop reading them. This is the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris. (Sci-fi/fantasy)

12-Gregor The Overlander by Suzanne Collins (Fantasy)
*Rated G- I liked it once I got into it but there were a few things I had to get past. I'm not fond of the creepy crawlers! First book in a series.
13-Wake by Lisa McMann (Sci-fi)
*Probably rated PG13 or R- The author occasionally threw out a cuss word here and there that would catch you off guard. But other than that, the story was pretty unique. First book in a series.
14-The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan (fantasy)
*Rated G- I actually liked this. It is Young Adult and I have looked at it several times in the book store. I was excited the other day when I saw a preview at the theater for it. So even if you don't read this one, you can see it. First book in a series.
15-The Chosen One by Carol Lynch Williams (drama)
*Rated PG 13, I think. The author did great work on this. It is a fictional story about a 13 year old living in a polygamist colony. I definitely recommend it but prepared to be ANGRY! I read it in under a day.
16-Miss Buncle's Book by D.E. Stevenson (hmm, I think comedy)
*Rated in the G or PG area. This is very Pride and Prejudice era. I really liked it. It was just amusing.
Okay, so hopefully I haven't bored you to tears but I know there are some of you that will appreciate my little book review. Of course, I do realize that I lean more towards sci-fi and fantasy than drama. Reality bores me to tears. But if someone gives it a good review, I'll give it a try.

I am so jealous you were in cool weather. I am ready for this heat to be over. I am too reading a ton this summer. It's fun but awful at the same time. i go to bed way too late. I just finished The Chosen one. I hope she writes another book because I want her to find a certain someone. THanks for the book list.
K first off Very good job on the apron! Love it, very cute, I hope to take a class one day, all my know how is pretty self taught for the most part. Second, I keep wanting a good book to read but it takes a lot for me to get into one enough to keep reading!! :) Love your reviews! Fun idea!

But seriously you didn't like the Anita stansfield series!!!!!!! I freakin loved it!! I read the first 3 in less than 2 weeks. the 4th book, very slow but good but I think it was because its leading up to the 5th one thats coming out soon. I give them an 11 for sure. Sorry you didnt enjoy it much. I need a new good series, what would you recommend first???
I can't believe you've read 16 books just this Summer...That's awesome!!! But I have missed reading your blog :) That made me sad to hear about Mason's leg. That sounds awful and kinda gross! Poor little kid. Seriously, sad! Oh AND I absolutely LOVE that apron! How fun!
Loved the apron!! You're SO crafty. I'm a little bummed that you never read that book I gave you though. It's SO good. READ IT!! Also, I still owe Mason a birthday gift. Let me know if I can get him the wall hangings. Thanks. ;)

Hi! Thanks for posting the pictures of the campout. I seem to always be out of town so I have never made it to the infamous prisbrey camp out. Watching the slides made me home sick! You need to get after my family to get their rear ends out there next year... what a bunch of slackers!
Do you get all your books at the library? I'll check back when I am ready. I definitly need a good review before I read a book(Hate to waste my time with all that learning!) But, knowing you, and knowing me... I probably start with the Anita Stansfield!
Poor Mason. I showed Braydon the pic of the stitches. I can't imagine fat coming out. I probably would have fainted. I am horrible at that stuff. I love the apron and TOTALLY wish I would have been in town for the class:( See you Thursday!

K, so LOVED the review! Now I am totally going to read Miss Buncle's Book. Pride and Prejudice is like my all time fav! Funny cause I was just on half.com last night buying a bunch of books I want to read, and thinking I wish I had some more good book ideas. But it is funny about your tendency towards fantasy and comment about reality, cause when I tell people how much I hate fantasy I always say "I want it to be able to happen in the real world in order to watch/read it!" Sometimes we are so different I am amazed that we are so close. But not really :)
I know what you mean about Anita Stansfield I get that way by the end of the series too. I'm always looking for a new book to read cause I'm always reading so thanks.
Wow, you have read alot of books. Thanks for the reviews, it's hard to find a good book. I still have to finish my apron, too bad I missed the last class. Your's turned out great.
I read through your book list and . . . I haven't read any of those . . . I'm a slacker in the reading arena!! I do love to read though, so I'll have to look again and maybe pick one up! Julianne said she saw you the other night and that you looked really good. Maybe I'll run into some of you the next time I'm there!! :)
POOR MASON!!! I have been wrapped up in my own little worl for the past couple of weeks so it was nice to catch up with what you guys were doing. I do have to say I love the small town ER's as well! It is almost worth the time to drive up there and go instead of waiting here for hours!!!!
