In Loving Memory Of Val Imlay

This is a picture of Jess' Aunt Val. We learned late Friday evening that she was killed, along with nine others, in a plane crash just outside of Moab, UT. There are many towns, as well as family and friends that are mourning this awful tragedy. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they try to heal from this great loss.

Val was a tiny woman, with a big heart and an even bigger personality. Surrounded by men, five brothers and no sisters, a husband, three sons, and two grandsons, she always held her own and came off conqueror.

We remember Val as the one that was able to bring us all together. Whether it was Thanksgiving dinner or camping at Big John's Flat on Beaver mountain, she gathered us all there and fed us WELL. She was an amazing cook and always kept a perfect garden. Jess remembers sneaking out back with her oldest son Kadin and digging in the dirt for her peas. Kelly, Jess' dad and Val's brother, was always excited when he would stop by her house and she would give him bags of fresh vegtables.

Val was always there for her family in every way they needed her. Necia, Jess' sister, remembers being on her own in Cedar City with two young kids, trying to make it through school and always being able to turn to her Aunt Val. Whether it was proof reading papers or spoiling Necia's daughter Britten, Val was there. She welcomed us all at any moment. When you were at Val's, you felt like you were at home. Not only was she this way, but so was her husband Mark and her three sons, Kadin, Jed, and Ben. Accepting and fun, that seems to be the Imlay way.

There was never a dull moment with Val.. Between years on the Little League Board, the Children's Justice Center, and taking herself back to school after having her kids, she still managed to serve her Heavenly Father faithfully. Her testimony was enough to lead us all through our trials. We can not think of a person more ready to reunite with their Father in heaven.

We will miss her greatly but rejoice in the knowledge that we will see her again!

Video Fool

Alright, I know it might be a bit much to post three video feeds at once, but whatever! Just deal or don't watch! :-)

The first one cracks me up! I could not stop laughing in the background. And let me just say, I do not know where she learned it. Also, this is not the first time she has tried slipping Jaxon the tongue!

The next one I posted for my boys and their friend Brayden. I pulled out the camera while they were doing tricks on the trampoline and all they wanted to know was if I was going to put it on my blog. How sad is that?? :-)

The last one might not make sense and they SO did not want it posted, but again, whatever! They got out costumes and were putting on a play for me. I told them they might need to talk a little bit to set the scene but they didn't agree. So, allow me to help you understand what is going on. Maddox (Venom) is watching TV when Mason (the Devil) enters the room. Suddenly Maddox becomes controlled by his costume and they start tearing each other part. Then, in comes Brayden (Ninja Turtle Leonardo) to help save Maddox from the Devil and his mind controlling costume, Venom! So dramatic! Gotta love 'em!!

Oh yeah, for those of you interested in the digital scrapbooking. Check out this website for all of your printing needs. They do all sizes, print in books, and you choose the quality. BUT, I have not yet received my prints so I will let you know back on the quality compared to Costco. So far, they appear to be cheaper as far as basic prints go.

Digital Scrapbooking

For those of you that know me well, you know that I am NOT a scrapbooker!! There are many reasons I do not do it. Mostly, I think it costs WAY too much money and takes up too much time. I apologize to all those who love it! Anyway, I have however been very interested in learning how to do digital scrapbooking. So long story short, I went to this website called Scrapwow. I paid $20 for a year long membership. With the membership I will get a free kit monthly, plus 6 starter kits, scrapbook sketches, and so much more. I know, I am totally selling it, but I am someone that loves to share when I find something I think is SO great!! So, if you are like me, completly cheap and lazy when it comes to scrapbooking, you might want to check it out.

These are my first pages! Not perfect, I know. But I will get better. Anyway, I am so excited!! Hopefully I have inspired one of you.

My Little Climber

Clearly, my daughter does not have my fear of heights! I posted a little while ago that she was starting to learn how to climb. She has now mastered that little stepping stone! Most of today was spent deep cleaning but the little tornado following behind us found a mountain to conquer in every room. At first I was really frustrated and very annoyed, then I thought, "Ooo, something to blog!" (Come on, you know you are all keeping your eyes open for the next worthy post.) Anyway, it didn't take much effort. I just followed her around for a few minutes with the camera. It kind of felt like she was a little puppy showing off her new trick. I just had to pat the top of what I wanted her to climb and off she went. Here's keeping our fingers crossed that she will have some athletic ability! :-)

I had to video tape one of them!

No, I don't generally waste water. I turned it on to encourage her a little farther up. This is usually what she does in order to get to all of our tooth brushes. They are all shared jointly with Claire now.

Did I hear you right?

My kids are like all other kids. When I choose to open my ears and listen to them, they actually say pretty funny things. :-) As bad as my memory is, I was able to remember a phrase each of them said this last week. In the interest of better journaling their life and humoring us, I will try to remember to blog their thoughts in the future.

We were sitting down at dinner and Jess had his cell phone sitting next to him. Mason turned to him and said, "I bet your glad you have more bars in more places, huh dad?"

Maddox has played mind games since I was pregnant with him. Yes, I thought I was in labor several times, but he eventually had to be forced out ten days late. Anyway, he is always looking for the newest way to get under our skin and get us to react. So the other day he said to me, "I quit this family! I'm movin' out!" I know, it sounds very sad. :-( If you knew Maddox, you would see that this was his way of trying to get out of cleaning up his toys.

"I poop, I poop!" as only Claire can say it! We're keeping our fingers crossed that she will pick up on the potty training faster than the boys.

I know, not totally crazy and funny words but their personalities shine right through each phrase. For those of you that know them well, I'm sure you can picture them in context. Anyway, I love 'em!!

Breaking Dawn

Today is a sad sad day for me! I know, I am a nerd. But, for those of you that have read Stephenie Meyer's Twilight Saga, you understand. I finished the fourth and final book, Breaking Dawn, last night. I LOVED IT, as I have loved all of them! I am so bummed they are over. Thankfully, Stephenie Meyer is an amazing author and I can expect many more great novels to come. Her descriptions, ideas, and passion for the story flow so easily through each page. She so fully feeds my reading addiction. For those of you that have not read them or have not herd of them, shame on you! :0) You will not be dissapointed, I promise! Twilight, the first book, will come out as a movie in December. I so want to see it, but I am really debating because I am afraid they will ruin it for me. I think I will have to let others see it first and then hear their reveiws. So far, I DO NOT like who they chose to play Edward! I didn't like the Bella character at first, but she is growing on me. What is your opinion??

Also, you must check out The Host. It is by Stephenie Meyer as well but completely seperate from the saga. Loved it!

VERY Random Update!!

I am sure most of you are off in seclusion reading the highly coveted Breaking Dawn, but since I ordered mine online, it will not be here until Tuesday. SO, I will blog! I figured I should get some blog time in since any extra minute I have will be spent reading the 4th book in the Twilight saga.

NO, your eyes are NOT deceiving you!! That would be my garage. And yes, it is clean! For the most part. Great organization will have to wait! But, it works for this...

Yes, my van is in the garage! I have not parked in the garage since Jess started our addition. This was a GREAT day!

About a month ago we put our tent trailer up for sale on Craigslist. It is pretty old, but mostly we didn't use it anymore. Anyway, a guy called last week and asked if we were willing to trade for it. So, we did....

...and this is what we traded for. Not exactly something we needed, but DEFINETELY not something we would turn down either! We are a little obsessed, but when you enjoy something together, GO WITH IT! (I am willing to bet this was the real motivation behind Jess cleaning out the garage!)

I have been very blessed with an awesome older sister! Unfortunately, we don't get to see each other as much as I would like since she moved to Phoenix a couple of years ago. I miss her a ton and always love getting to see her! Anyway, they were in town this weekend so I was able to spend a couple of days with them out at my parents.

Debbie has six kids and her oldest are twins. They have now graduated and will be heading across the country in a couple of weeks to start college. I just had to post a picture of Chandler, one of the twins, because he said, "I better not see this on your blog." LOL! Oh well! :0)

This is Madisen, his twin. By far, one of the sweetest girls you will ever meet! I can't believe these two are already 18 and heading out into the world. I KNOW, I sound like that annoying aunt that always says, "I remember when you were..." But, I'm beginning to believe that is the definition of aunt.

This is my neice Malia, Deb's fifth! Yes, she has been this blonde since she was born! When I used to try to take pictures of her she would run and hide behind her mom because she is incredibly shy. Luckily, I caught my beautiful neice on camera!

Becca, Eric's oldest, will be starting her freshman year of high school. Anyway, she will be our first cheerleader in the family so we had to get her ready! LOL! :0) We colored her hair Saturday night because she wanted to be ALL blonde. I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out, but doesn't she look HOT!? She looks way older to me now, and hopefully I do not get in trouble from her parents!

My sister Diane and her husband get to go on their own trip with my parents in the spring. They do not want to take their daughter with them but are nervous about leaving her for an entire week. I told them they needed to do a few practice runs. So, lucky Aunt Liz got to take baby Daisy home on Saturday night for her very first sleepover!! Daisy is six months younger than Claire but feels a lot more like a baby to me. We had a lot of fun with her!

Daisy and Claire getting ready for church!

Claire and Daisy helping with the dishes! They were a huge help! :0)

Claire

Daisy

It was fun to watch Diane come in and start squealing at Daisy. The first time you leave your baby overnight is ALWAYS so hard! Her and Caleb were troopers!

I just had to post this picture for all of you that know Laura Humphries. She cracks me up! I wish she would start her own blog because I love to hear the things she says! (hint hint Laura) Anyway, we went to a little water/ice-cream social for our kids. It was very hot for the parents because we were all just sitting around out side. THEN, crazy Laura decided she was done with it and ran down the slip 'n' slide fully dressed.

A BIG thanks to Marylin for telling me the best way to upload a video!! I tried for days to just do it on the blogger upload and I couldn't get it to work.

This is a quick video of Claire and my nephew Ryker playing kissing cousins. I thought it was really cute! Ryker must be the most adorable little boy ever!

I know, this is truly a very random blog. My site was being crazy for a few days so everything just started piling up. See you all when I'm done with Breaking Dawn!
