First Day of School 2010

Okay, bear with me, but I am going to make an attempt to catch up on my blog. I have another week and half before summer school starts so I think I can get it done.

I promise I haven't been slacking the last year, I've just been incredibly busy. I decided about a year ago that I was going to go back to school so that is where I've been. I took one summer school class to get me started last year, three classes in the fall, four in the spring, and I'll be taking two this summer. When the session is over, I'll be done with my freshman year of college. HOLLA!! :-)

Aside from my school, we have had both the boys in sports and piano, Jess was on over-time for several months, I was playing soccer three nights a week for a while, Jess had softball and he played on a soccer team with me as well, and Claire started her first year of preschool last fall. Needless to say, we have been pushing ourselves about as far as we can go. I'm not complaining though. It has been a great year and it has made my first year of school fly by.

Now I know I probably won't get in everything I would have if I had kept up on my blog but at least I'll have something documented for my blog book. I went through all my pictures and they should keep me in line.

Anyway, Maddox started first grade in the fall with his teacher Ms. Bailey. He has loved going to school all day and has loved having lunch at school. He has never been a great morning person and he will stay up all night if we let him so I really wasn't sure how the 8 am school thing would work out, but he has conquered it like a champ. He is my sweet little man.

Mason started fourth grade in the fall. I was initially really stressed because he got a teacher he really didn't want. I ended up talking to the school, which is something I would never usually do and is very hard for me, but I was grateful I did in the end. He ended up with an amazing teacher, Mrs. Robinson, who actually had boys that grew up with Jess so she kept a special eye on Mason. He has ended up having an awesome year. He has loved going to school, which I didn't think would be the case. If you don't believe me, look at his expression in his picture on the first day of school.

Claire started preschool this year. She absolutely LOVED it! She went in so much easier than either of my boys. I thought she would be more clingy but that wasn't the case at all. It was a little sad. :-( Especially considering that she is my baby.

Random Updates & The Temple

Okay, so my kids have been going to the dentist for years now but this is the first time I have ever taken a picture, so I had to post them. I have started carrying my camera in my purse so I was pretty excited when I realized I could finally be one of those crazy parents in the doctor's office that had to get a picture of their child being treated. The funny thing is that everyone there thought it was normal. I was the only one a little embarrassed.

The bottom three pictures are a little random. The first one I posted because I straightened Claire's hair and I thought it was so cute. I know, most people would kill for her curls but it was still fun to see how long her hair really is. You can't tell in this picture but it goes down her back.

The second picture of Claire in the Cinderella dress is to mark when my daughter finally decided to be interested in girl-y things. Out of the blue she decided she wanted to dress up! Imagine my surprise when all she has been interested in is whatever her brothers are doing. For a week straight she put on that dress and made me pull her hair up. I was in heaven! :-)

The last one I posted because I love that Claire is being a little ham in the picture. She is such a character all the time and it's hard to catch on camera. Anyway, I just thought it was cute.

On the 14Th of August, the Prisbrey family went to the temple to do Jared's temple work. Obviously we didn't all take part, that was done by Jess and Bryson, but having everyone there was awesome! I can't express the happiness and joy that was felt. I think everyone finally has a little peace. It was amazing to feel Jared so close to us again. After, Kelly brought all the grand kids up and we took a family picture. (Let me just point out Maddox's lovely expressions, AGAIN!) When we were done, we all went to dinner and then headed to my in-laws to play games for the evening. It was a perfect and wonderful day!!

Mason's 9th Birthday

Yesterday, Mason turned 9 years old!! I still can't believe it. This year has been a big one for him. Since he turned 8, we have been trusting him with a lot more around the house and he loves it. Being 9 only brings him closer to all the 'adult' stuff he wants to do. Mason has been very independent since he was just a baby. He is still this way and I absolutely love it!! He is very responsible when it comes to taking care of his younger siblings and being able to run errands for me. This last year he has started taking himself to and from his piano lessons, which again, is another great perk for me! It is AWESOME!!

I do love this little man! He is sensitive, sweet, competitive, smart, curious, very aware of others, a great piano player, and incredibly stubborn. He is the perfect older brother and one amazing son. I am so glad he is mine!

For his birthday, he had his oldest friend Trenton come hang out for 24 hours. He was in heaven because they go to separate schools and barely see each other anymore. We started the day by heading to my parents for swimming. Jess met up with us after work and brought pizza and soda to chow on.

After swimming, Jess took Trenton and Mason bowling for some guy time. I took Maddox and Claire with me to my soccer game.

After bowling and soccer, we met up at our house with Jess' parents and his brother Bryson for doughnuts and presents. I also brought Claire's best friend Phoenix home from soccer with me to stay the night.

Let me just say that Mason couldn't have been happier with his loot! He was one happy boy. He made out! This year, he received money from several people. I guess that's a sign of aging in itself. We spent today at the store so he could buy a few things. It was cute watching him be tight with his money.

After doughnuts and presents, the boys settled in to play the Wii. They have pretty much been glued to it for the past day.

He was pretty happy so I guess I can say birthday number 9 was a success!! We love you Mason!

I had to post all these pictures of Claire and her friend Phoenix. They haven't seen each other in forever and they were loving life together the past day. They are so much a like. People often mistake them for twins. They even sound the same. It would be creepy if they weren't so dang adorable!

Lake Trip

Last Thursday, my brother Stephen invited the kids and I to the lake for the day. I was a little scared at first. I hadn't been to the lake since I was in high school and my kids had never been. To attempt the lake with all three of them with out Jess was a little bit scary.

It turned out great though! I had Stephen there along with my sisters Brenda and Sarah so I really didn't have anything to worry about. My kids absolutely loved it. Not a one of them was afraid of the water, they all rode in the tube, and they would have stayed there all night if we would have let them.

It was so much more fun and relaxing than I remember it being. Probably because I'm not afraid of the water anymore. Yes, I was super afraid of fish getting me when I was younger. Thank goodness that's over! :-) And thanks to Stephen for inviting us and making it such a fun day for my kids and I!

All Caught Up!!

Okay! It's been over two months since I have posted and I think I was able to catch up in one night. For those of you that might be interested, there are 5 new posts after this one.

I took my final tonight for my first college class. It was great to learn again. I'm not totally sure yet, but I think I pulled an A. I'm just waiting on one grade and I would have really had to bomb it to get a B as a final grade. Anyway, I am super excited to have completed my first class! It's a great feeling! But, it definitely kept me away from posting on the blog. Hopefully I can be better. We'll see though, we know how it's been going lately.

Mohler Reunion

Last weekend we went to Beaver, UT for the Mohler Family Reunion. Our reunions are always a lot of fun! Unfortunately, I didn't keep my camera on me so this is the only picture I have. I keep hoping to round some up from the family. I'm sure there are hundreds.

There were a couple hundred people there. We played games, did potato races, made crafts, watched skits/talents, and enjoyed free time of mostly sports. We played a couple pick-up games of soccer that left bruises all over my legs. My brother in-law gave me a nice one that I graciously took a picture of to text to him so I could tease him. It was a lot of fun! My family, especially the Mohlers, love to play and they are all competitive. It's great because I never feel out of place.

My Girls

My good friend Mitra moved to Hong Kong in March after her wedding. She came back to the states to visit family and friends for a few weeks. So of course, my friends and I never miss a chance to play!

Last Wednesday, the 7th, we went to the water park during the day with our kids and then at night we met up with just the girls at Macayos for old times sake. After Macayos, all of us except for my friend Alexis went back to my parents (big) house to hang out because it's empty now. We stayed there until about 3 am just talking and eating. I absolutely LOVE my girlfriends. They are the best! The few times a year we are able to get together are definitely a MUST to keep me going.
