SNOW DAY?!!

Okay, let me start by saying that I know everyone is already blogging about this. But really, how can we not? No school because of SNOW in VEGAS!! The last time this happened was 29 years ago. I remember praying when I was younger that we could get a snow day and not have to go to school, except I never really had any hopes of this coming true. How lucky are our kids?? :-)

We just got back from the park and it was so much fun there. There were tons of other kids and parents out there running and rolling in the snow. Then we just drove the slushy streets to take it all in. We are really able to enjoy this snow because we finally caved a little while ago and bought snow clothes for our kids. Our experience this time is much better than the last few times it has snowed in Vegas when they were wearing knit gloves and tennis shoes. No cold fingers and toes means no whining. Claire even loved it! Well, for a little while.

These pictures are actually from yesterday when it was snowing pretty bad. I took more at the park but I had already started this post when we decided to go. I am too lazy to up load them now. Oh well, I have way too many pictures as it is.

Ugh, and then some!

So here is what I am thinking... A nice throw against the wall would do my computer some good! Okay, I know it probably isn't running that slow, but let's face it, we are a spoiled people. If it moves slightly slower than usual, I feel like giving it a good kick under the desk. Jess' solution would be to just buy a new one, which I wouldn't be all that opposed to if there was money flying around that would allow me to do so.

Anyway, this post really has no purpose other than to let you know life is not always perfect, if ever. My friend Jessi and I were talking the other day about how blogs can seem fake. Not because anyone is trying to mask how life really is, but let's face it, if I am going to post a picture, it will no doubt be the best one I have. If I am going to post a blog, it is going to be because something fun actually happened. Does anyone really want to know that most of my days go in this cycle, clean - cook - clean - yell - clean - cook - clean - run - clean - stress over money - and then clean some more?? Probably not.

But, I have decided to do my best to throw the bad days in with the good so that no one out there assumes I am something more than I am. And here is a nice little picture to prove it...........

.....Okay, who are we kidding? After much time looking at pictures, I'm not that honest. SORRY! You'll just have to take my word for it.

Although, I still think every post neeeds a picture so here is one of Claire that I thought was post worthy.

13.1 BABY!!!

We did it!! If you had asked me three months ago if I would ever run over thirteen miles, I would have said NO (with no hesitation)! But with great encouragement from my good friend Jessi, I set a goal and I kept it. Not only did I get to run with Jessi but one of my other very best friends Mitra decided to join in on all the fun.

Today the three of us woke up WAY too early for comfort and ran the Las Vegas Half Marathon. I could not believe how incredibly awesome it was! Some of you out there know what I am talking about, some of you will know very soon, and the rest of you, I'm sure, think the 11,255 people that ran the race are just plain CRAZY! But, I'm here to tell you that it was so much fun and anyone can do it.

This is Mitra and I before the race....

This is Mitra, Jessi, and I after the race...

And this is my great and supportive husband that let me sweat all over him!

Anyway, I was very pleased with my time as I have not been preparing for all that long. My main goal was to finish happily without having walked. But, I had so much fun that I will probably try to do another one in February to work on my time. So, if there are any takers out there, I am always looking for someone to run with.

Also, check this out! Who would have thought Jess and I would have the same celebrity look alike? My husband's features are just too pretty! :-) I'm sure he is going to love that I put this on here.

Thanksgiving!

I'm becoming a bit of a slacker in the posting area. Sorry! Hopefully the enormous amount of pictures I tend to take will make up for it. But, I do realize that I may take WAY too many for some of you. Again, sorry!

Anyway, our Thanksgiving was wonderful! We spent it with Jess' dad's side of the family in New Harmony, UT. His uncle Kendall has a ranch, I guess you would call it, there. Some of you might actually remember Kim and Ricky Trimmer. Kendall and Jan are their parents. They are Jess' cousins. Anyway, lots of fun, yummy food, great company, and rain, rain, rain.

Later in the evening we headed to my parents place in Brianhead. It was snowing really bad and it's the first time we have had to drive it in our van. WAY scary! We had no chains either. It could have been really bad.

On Friday it was just our little family. We ate junk, watched movies, and played in the snow.

Friday night our good friends, Bobby, Jessi, and Phoenix came up for the rest of the weekend. They are our traveling buddies. It seems like if we are out of town, most of the time they are with us. If they are not with us then they are usually on a vacation of their own.

Anyway, it was a lot of fun. Our girls are getting old enough that they play really well together. Phoenix tries to teach Claire about colors, numbers, and animals. Claire teaches Phoenix how to climb everything in site. They will be a great team!

Be Thankful

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!

Take some time to remember what you are thankful for. I am always happiest when I "count my many blessings." If you think there is nothing to be happy about, go watch Pollyanna, an all time classic! My list will have to wait until it's not 1:00 am. I know, what am I doing awake?? Enjoy your weekend and know that I am thankful for all of you! Yes, I'm getting cheesy, but I SO love friends!
